Is November 2 vote on Transportation Sales Tax fixed?

Does Google know something about Watkinsville's November 2 vote on Transportation Sales Tax being approved?

Revenue from the increase County sales tax from 7% to 8% would be used for four purposes: to cover transportation costs already being funded by the county by property tax, to create new revenue for multi-use paths, for intersection improvements, and for paving.

The county should be able to reduce the property tax rate as a result of shifting some of the current spending on transportation from the General Fund to projects covered by the new tax, Board of Commissioners Chair John Daniell said.

The new tax, if approved by the voters, would bring the sales tax in line with that of Clarke County, which approved a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax in November of 2018. Didn’t people move to Oconee to get away from high taxes like Clarke County. Also don’t people buy big items from counties with lower taxes. So why are we trying to keep up with the Kardashians, tit for tat?

They say safety And intersection improvements would include adding stop lights. Apparently Google Maps know something the the voters don't, because they have already added a stop lights to the Oconee State Banks entrance. So why do residents need to vote? Apparently Oconee State Bank, County Commissions, and Goggle Maps already made that vote for us.

I see two things wrong with this picture. First, Watkinsville’s 1st Street was never abandoned and sold, but seems to be missing on Goggle Maps as being part of Oconee State Bank’s property. I wonder how many years 1st Street has been missing from Goggle Maps? Even the banks white ugly building hasn't been marked on the map.

Second, Oconee State Bank apparently has decided that Oconee County taxpayers should fund their private entrance stop light into their property. That entrance is maybe one hundred feet from the intersection at Experimental Station Road and Main Street stop lights.

Isn’t that just long enough to fit an 80 foot tractor trailer rig. That is those big long things that Watkinsville City Council for years said they wanted a by-pass to stop them from creating congestion in down town. One council member, now mayor, has been making that by-pass promise for 18-years. Ain’t even going to happen in the near future folks.

In the name of congestion, that new stop light at the entrance into Oconee State Bank must be removed from the Transportation Tax list until Watkinsville City Council actually finishes the by-pass from South of Watkinsville on Highway 15 to North of Bishop on Highway 441.

Wonder who has the power to remove that unwanted stop light; Oconee State Bank or Oconee County residents? I wouldn't bet on the residents.
