Democrats say the way you can tell if someone is a Republican, they favor the rich. If that is true, then Watkinsville City Council must all be Republicans.
In my May 25, 2021 blog Why give Watkinsville employees bonuses just for doing their jobs, I wondered why someone on this God’s green earth didn’t comment on the lack of equality when handing out bonuses?
City Manager Dickerson earns $79,400 a year and Street Worker Chaney earns $27,400 a year. That is $52,000 more a year or around 289% more. Granted a City Manager earning that much doesn’t need a $2,000 bonus and the City Council should have know better. With benefits she earns around $92,000.
But on the bonuses side Dickerson received $2027 (her weekly salary plus $500 additional bonus) and Chaney received $505 (his weekly salary). Though Dickerson’s salary is 2.85% larger than Chaney, her bonus was 300% larger than his.
I’m far from being a genus, but the City owes Chaney 15% more or $75 more in his bonus. “Just for equality.”
